Batanagar, Kolkata: Footwear brand Bata India has announced a ₹300 million investment to modernize its Batanagar manufacturing facility.
This investment marks a major milestone in the brand’s commitment to “Make in India, for the World,” strengthening its global competitiveness through cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities.
The company has deployed state-of-the-art technologies including Polyurethane Direct Injection Process (PUDIP) and Injection Moulded EVA (IM EVA) machines for the production of Floatz and Bata Industrial footwear.
These systems feature robotic spraying, automated roughening arms, and high-precision mould handling – enhancing product consistency, quality, and production efficiency.

Batanagar, born from Thomas Bata’s visit in the 1930s, helped shape West Bengal into a shoemaking powerhouse, and this initiative reaffirms its legacy in the modern era.

Alongside manufacturing advancements, Bata India has expanded its retail presence with over 130 new stores opened in the past year, more than half of which are in Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns.
